First Leg Done!!!

Alright, friends/family/internet strangers, my first run is done!  How would I describe it?  Hot, sunny, and challenging!  I ran the whole time.  Well, let me clarify.  There were some intersections with traffic where everyone had to stop (at least for a bit).  Sucks!  I don't like stopping because it's hard to get back moving, even if you've only stopped for 10 seconds!  The good news is that only happened 2-3 times.  The other times I could (safely) blow through an intersection.  Outside of those intersections, I did run the whole time.  Yes, my brain and my body wanted to walk.  I told both of them to STFU!  (If you're easily offended, don't look that acronym up.)

My pace started out pretty good, but it definitely went downhill.  I'm just not used to the heat & sun (yet).  I did have lots of "kills" (other runners who you pass).  Since everyone I passed was runner #9 like me, that means my team was beating them!

Had a few folks at the end (other teams/runners) who commented on my running (asking about pace and one runner saying "I tried to get you, but I couldn't").  That was cool!

My splits showed that I fell apart, but the overall pace ended up under 8 min per mile, so that's semi-decent.

It was a nice run, though.  Here's the RunKeeper map of where I went.

Thanks to all who emailed, posted on the blog, followed along, and virtually cheered for me!  It's incredibly awesome to come back and see all of that!!!

  1. Your times are amazing for a feels like temp of 85 - with hot sun beating down on you. It may cool you off to know that it has rained here all day and never got above 60 degrees. What you are doing is soooo cool!
